Every year the Oklahoma State 4-H Horse Program awards a title and scholarship for 'Oklahoma 4-H Horseman of the Year.' In 2025, Killian Baker, a high school student from Creek County won the title, and this year her younger sister Kinsley won the award.
Oklahoma 4-H is proud to announce that Kinsley Baker, a homeschool student and member of the Creek County 4-H Club has won the Karen Richardson Memorial Scholarship and title of Oklahoma 4H Horseman of the Year. A 4-H member for eight years, Baker excels in horsemanship, leadership, and community service. This award requires a detailed application, personal essay, letters of recommendation, and interview for the top three finalists.
Kinsley was recognized at the Oklahoma 4-H State Horse Show in Chickasha, Oklahoma this July, where her older sister Killian, last year's recipient of the award, celebrated her accomplishment. Dr. Kris Hiney, OSU Equine Extension Specialist, and Dr. Steve Beck, State Program Leader for 4-H presented the $1000 scholarship and prestigious Horseman of the Year belt buckle.
The sisters have excelled within 4-H, including hosting a state-wide horse judging competition for the past two years, collecting donations for ranching victims of the Oklahoma wildfires in 2026, and hosting their own 'horse camps for kids,' where they teach area children about horse safety, care, and beginning riding skills.
