Tragedy struck Aug. 6, 2026 on the Turner Turnpike near Bristow. Fifty two year old Jamie Earp, along with his 22 year old son, Tucker Earp, both from Jay, Oklahoma were traveling eastbound on the turnpike returning from a rodeo. They were pulling a horse trailer loaded with horses. For unknown reasons, Earp ( Jamie) departed the roadway to the right striking the rear of a parked semi-truck, driven by John Martin, age 68, from Medford, New York. Both vehicles immediately burst into flames. A by-stander was able to free the horses from the burning trailer and get them to safety but unfortunately neither of the Earp’s made it. They were killed upon impact. The driver of the semi was injured but the report does not state if he was taken to a hospital or treated at the scene.
